Past Mission
Guatemala City 2015: More Miles, More Smiles
Meet the team who went on this mission and the kids who captured our hearts.
From Heartbreak to Wholeness
Why are we here? Because for many children in Latin America, we are the difference between poor health, disfigurement and social ostracism, versus a healthy, happy and productive life.
Our International Impact
Each year, Austin Smiles performs several one-week medical missions in Latin America. The mission team consists of medical volunteers and volunteers who provide translation, administrative and technical support. In one week, Austin Smiles will on average change the lives of 60 children per trip.
What is Cleft Lip/Cleft Palate?
Why don’t more people in the U.S. know about these disfiguring, debilitating but normally treatable birth defects? Our society has had the means and the will to ensure that nearly every child affected by them gets treatment. But where we take our medical missions, that isn’t the case. Learn more about orofacial clefts, and the physical, emotional and social burdens they impose.
